I say if you want to, do it. Why let ethnicity or nationality dictate what you do? However it is a good idea to do one or the other. If you still wanna do both think about this... instead of doing a 2nd party you could use that money to travel all over the world...just a thought.
Do you have to be spanish to celebrate a quince?
YEAH, iT'z A MEXiCAN TRADiTioN. WHiTE PPL ARE C0PYiNG WiTH THEiR SWEET SiXTEEN CRAP.
Reply:Um you should be a latino decent. It wouldn't be right for a catholic to celebrate a barmitzvah.
Reply:different cultures called it different names. it basically came down to how a girl was presented to society and announcing she was of age to be courted with the intention of marriage. that was the historical origin of the custom. some societies did it as a large party where all the girls of a certain age were presented at one large event as in the American southern society. I would suggest if you are not of Hispanic origins you find out if there is a name that reflects your origins and if not use the "Sweet Sixteen" name or the other one that was common a "Coming Out" party. After all a party is a party and the idea is to have fun. And if you borrow a few things I would think it would make people proud to have their culture admired.
Reply:I guess you mean Quinceanera(sorry if I spelled it wrong). You don't have to spanish- it just comes from the Spanish culture. You can celebrate your fifteenth and call it a quinceanera if your parents and family support you for the preparations of it.
Reply:Well Depends are you white - sorry i do not like saying it - I mean you can but once you do you can't celebrate Sweet 16 and then ppl are going think you are a wannabe. Lol. So i would go with Sweet 16 ( but i am hispanic ) I am doing both bc i am Hispanic and American but it depends on what kind of race you are! You can still do it but like i said you may look like a wannabe
Reply:I had my quinceaƱera party just last year. But if the birthday girl invited you, you should go. You'll learn more about our culture. But if you aren't a Latina, it probably wouldn't look right. But it's like Cory from "That's So Raven" when his friend had a barmitzvah and he wanted a bro-mitzvah for the money. Just keep in mind that everyone has their own traditions and cultures, and everyone should respect them even though they aren't a part of the experience.
