Can You Give Me An Example Of A Quince Poem?

IM DOIN MY ENGLISH HOMEWORK BUT I DONT KNOE WHAT A QUINCE POEM LOOK LIKE OR HOW TO DO IT

NEED HELP

Can You Give Me An Example Of A Quince Poem?
Here you go:

Peter Quince at the Clavier

I

Just as my fingers on these keys

Make music, so the self-same sounds

On my spirit make a music, too.

Music is feeling, then, not sound;

And thus it is that what I feel,

Here in this room, desiring you,

Thinking of your blue-shadowed silk,

Is music. It is like the strain

Waked in the elders by Susanna;

Of a green evening, clear and warm,

She bathed in her still garden, while

The red-eyed elders, watching, felt

The basses of their beings throb

In witching chords, and their thin blood

Pulse pizzicati of Hosanna.

II

In the green water, clear and warm,

Susanna lay.

She searched

The touch of springs,

And found

Concealed imaginings.

She sighed,

For so much melody.

Upon the bank, she stood

In the cool

Of spent emotions.

She felt, among the leaves,

The dew

Of old devotions.

She walked upon the grass,

Still quavering.

The winds were like her maids,

On timid feet,

Fetching her woven scarves,

Yet wavering.

A breath upon her hand

Muted the night.

She turned --

A cymbal crashed,

Amid roaring horns.

III

Soon, with a noise like tambourines,

Came her attendant Byzantines.

They wondered why Susanna cried

Against the elders by her side;

And as they whispered, the refrain

Was like a willow swept by rain.

Anon, their lamps' uplifted flame

Revealed Susanna and her shame.

And then, the simpering Byzantines

Fled, with a noise like tambourines.

IV

Beauty is momentary in the mind --

The fitful tracing of a portal;

But in the flesh it is immortal.

The body dies; the body's beauty lives.

So evenings die, in their green going,

A wave, interminably flowing.

So gardens die, their meek breath scenting

The cowl of winter, done repenting.

So maidens die, to the auroral

Celebration of a maiden's choral.

Susanna's music touched the bawdy strings

Of those white elders; but, escaping,

Left only Death's ironic scraping.

Now, in its immortality, it plays

On the clear viol of her memory,

And makes a constant sacrament of praise.

Hope this helps!

Reply:What color you wear doesn't matter because you are not part of the service, you are an invited guest .. Wear the color you feel best wearing.

If you feel you must wear a color that compliments the party, find out what color they are using for accent and blend to that.

Cute dresses are available at Ross, Marshall's, TJ Maxx,

Target, WalMart...

Reply:Just get a cute little cocktail dress, you can find some at places like jc pennys and macys and stuff like that,

id reccommend wearing a bright color but pick something that looked good with your hair/skin tone.

What is a quince?

I know it's some sort of fruit, but what is it?

What is a quince?
It is a small deciduous tree, growing 5-8 m tall and 4-6 m wide, related to apples and pears, and like them has a pome fruit, which is bright golden yellow when mature, pear-shaped, 7-12 cm long and 6-9 cm broad.
Reply:It's a hard fruit which looks a little like a speckled apple. Used for making into jelly, jam, and liqueur. Too bitter to eat raw.
Reply:it looks like and apple, and tastes like an apple kinda..but is a bit less juicy...you can cook it too...its common in turkey....quite nice really
Reply:from what i no it is a throat infiction a bit like tonsilitise but worse i think the tonsills burst i have never heard of it as a fruit tho
Reply:A quince is a fruit resembling a pear that was first cultivated in the Middle East. In fact, the proverbial apple offered to Adam by Eve may actually be more accurately translated as a quince. Quinces cannot be eaten like pears or apples, with the exception of the less cultivated pineapple variety, but need to be baked or frozen to eliminate their acidity.

Once ripened, the yellowish fruit still has a hard exterior, much like a winter squash. If one is not using quinces immediately, cooking guides recommend storing them in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. The seeds are poisonous and should be discarded. The core of the quince is very hard, but using a sharp paring knife will divest the quince of both the unusable core and the dangerous seeds.
Reply:It's an apple like fruit. When you see one on a tree, it looks like an apple without a stem. It grows right up next to the branch. They're too tart to eat raw, but they're really good when added to something like a batch of apple sauce.
Reply:I have quince growing in my garden. Much too hard to eat raw - but I add some peeled and sliced to apple when I make pies. Gives an unusual piquant taste- lovely served with lashing of cream!
Reply:a quince is a hard, yellow skinned fruit, looks and tastes like a cross between an apple and a pear.

The flesh is quite dry and has an astringent, tart flavor.

It's better cooked then raw and it's high pectin content is ideal for jams and jellies.
Reply:Its like a small apple slightly dry with a similar taste to a dry pear. They are often used in dishes like caserole and fruity stews but in the main they are not worth bothering with
Reply:quince (cydonia oblonga) is a fruit of small tree related to

apples and pears.
Reply:Its a daft fruit, that is quite bitter, my gran used to have a quine bush in her garden. you can make the fruit into jam.
Reply:i think it is small and purple (perhaps) you make jam with it. I think it is quite old fashioned, you don't see it around much now
Reply:i had one on my throat but that was an abscess not a fruit
Reply:It's a hard apple like fruit, only edible when cooked, it's usually used to make jelly or preserves. It comes from an Asian shrub tree of the same name.
Reply:It is like a small apple but a lot, lot sharper, i can tell u!! we have one outside in our garden.

Cydonia oblonga flowers

Scientific classification

Kingdom: Plantae

Division: Magnoliophyta

Class: Magnoliopsida

Order: Rosales

Family: Rosaceae

Subfamily: Maloideae

Genus: Cydonia

Species: C. oblonga

Binomial name

Cydonia oblonga

Mill.

The Quince Cydonia oblonga is the sole member of the genus Cydonia and native to warm-temperate southwest Asia in the Caucasus region. It is a small deciduous tree, growing 5-8 m tall and 4-6 m wide, related to apples and pears, and like them has a pome fruit, which is bright golden yellow when mature, pear-shaped, 7-12 cm long and 6-9 cm broad.

The immature fruit is green, with dense grey-white pubescence which mostly (but not all) rubs off before maturity in late autumn when the fruit changes colour to yellow with hard flesh that is strongly perfumed. The leaves are alternately arranged, simple, 6-11 cm long, with an entire margin and densely pubescent with fine white hairs. The flowers, produced in spring after the leaves, are white or pink, 5 cm across, with five petals.

Quince is used as a food plant by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Brown-tail, Bucculatrix bechsteinella, Bucculatrix pomifoliella, Coleophora cerasivorella, Coleophora malivorella, Green Pug and Winter Moth.

Four other species previously included in the genus Cydonia are now treated in separate genera. These are the Chinese Quince Pseudocydonia sinensis, a native of China, and the three flowering quinces of eastern Asia in the genus Chaenomeles. Another unrelated fruit, the Bael, is sometimes called the "Bengal Quince".
Reply:it's a fruit that is related to apples and pears, and is slightly pear-shaped. in some countries it is cooked and eaten with cheese, or made into jam.
Reply:either of two trees that produce small round yellowish fruit; fruit produced by these trees
Reply:A fragrant fruit, quince is similar in appearance to the pear and the apple.

Anyone know where I can buy Quinces from?

I can't find them anywhere and I suspect they mainly come from private growers but if anyone knows a farm which sells them in East Sussex I would be most grateful.

Whats the best way to cook quinces?

And the easiest!

Whats the best way to cook quinces?
QUINCE HONEY

3 c. sugar

1 c. quinces (ground raw)

2 c. water

Mix together, cook until thick. Quince honey was always a treat. Sometimes served when one had a cold.
Reply:Quince Jelly

INGREDIENTS:

7 1/2 cups sugar

3 fluid ounces liquid pectin

4 1/2 cups water

3 pounds quinces, cored and chopped, peels on

1/4 cup lemon juice

--------------------------------------...

DIRECTIONS:

Sterilize 8 (1/2 pint) jars in boiling water for at least 5 minutes, and have new lids ready.

Place the quinces in a large pot, and pour in water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes. Strain off 4 cups of the juice. Mix juice with sugar and lemon juice in a heavy pot, and bring to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly. Stir in pectin, and return to a boil. Boil for 1 full minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and skim off foam. Ladle into hot sterile jars, and process for 10 minutes in a hot water bath to seal. Refrigerate jelly after opening.

Store sealed jars in a cool dark place. Refrigerate jelly after opening.

Going to a quince tommorrow! Help, 10 PTs!!?
good thing i saw your question because i love makeup. when doing your makup make sure you put moisteriser first. then tap ur face with some foundation, make sure its even in your face and that it matches ur skin color, then put on some concealer, a shade darker then ur skin to bring out ur eyes. after this apply eye shadow, apply a color slightly darker then pink, make it like a purple.. dnt apply a little cause it will look horrible, put enough to bring out ur eyes. apply eye liner and apply a little on the top corner of ur eye lids, more like a pac man mouth. smile at the mirror and apply a pinkish blush to ur cheekbones. put mascara and then a littttle bit of shine to ur lips... wala!

I would think that this could vary from country to country or state to state. It could even vary in neighborhood to neighborhood. Can you call a local bridal shop and ask them what they would advise? Do you know any other mothers who have attended a Quince? Or do you know any of the other mothers going?

Have fun.

Help! What do i wear to my first quince??

I'm going to my friends quince on saturday and i don't know what to wear! I'm asian and i guess i might feel left out but i want to know what happens at a quince. What do i wear?? Oh and it also might rain. Plz and thank u's.

Help! What do i wear to my first quince??
Traditionally you would wear Pink or Peach dress but you should talk to your friend, She would traditionally wear pink or white so it really depends if it is by the book. Talk to her.
Reply:Dress like you would to a school dance basically, a lot of the family members will probably be pretty dressed up. Try wearing a cute cocktail dress with heels or flats.
Reply:I have no clue what a quince is, so i can't help you out in that situation, but since it sounds like some kind of formal party like a prom or something then i suggest you wear a dress.

If it rains then and you don't feel that the whole dress thing is needed then wear some skinny jeans with a nice top and shoes to match (heels)

add accessories, makeup, nice hair, etc....

And don't feel left about because your asian, Asians are one of the most prettiest people i've seen :-)

Which guy should i ask to be my partner for my friends quince?
The guy from your school. Offer to teach him to dance if he's not comfortable with it. Just have a good time. There is always more potential with someone you see at school a lot than someone from another school.

they had dresses for under $80. Just search "cheap or discount formal dresses" in your favorite search engine.

You could also do a search for formal rentals. If you live near a major city, there ought to be a place.

And most cities have a David's Bridal. If you go to their shop they often have "sale" dresses that you can walk-in and buy.

And it is also prom time. You may be able to find a good deal at a department store.

Do you half to be catholic to have a quince?

I'M WONDERING BECAUSE MY MOM WAS CATHOLIC BUT SHE PASSED AWAY WEN I WAS 3 BUT I WANT TO STILL HAVE MY QUINCE TO SHOW MY ROOTS. AND MY DAD IS CHRISTAIN

Do you half to be catholic to have a quince?
you do not need to be catholic, i am crhistian and i have been in so many quinceaneras! of course things change a little bit, but you need to have a quince is in our blood! :)
Reply:A quinceanera is a religious ceremony. If you can't have it done in your own church, I'm afraid you might be out of luck. You can't have a Catholic ceremony unless you are Catholic.

Where can I find fresh quinces?

For years, my grandfather shipped quinces to my mother for Christmas. But now he's gone. Surely somebody out there has a quince tree - and no use for the quinces. I'll pay cash to anyone with a few to ship and share.

Where can I find fresh quinces?
Quinces spotted in Virginia on October 31st:

"Bethesda, Md.: Happy Halloween, Rangers! I'm looking for fresh quince for a lamb stew recipe. I haven't been able to find it at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. Any ideas? Thanks!

Walter: Fresh quince are not the easiest fruit to find. But they have them for $1.99 each at Super H Mart in Fairfax. (10780 Fairfax Blvd.; 703-273-0570.)

Jane Touzalin: It's also worth calling Harris Teeter; sometimes they have fresh quince on their exotic-produce shelf. But it's hit or miss. "

They are often available at Mexican or Spanish grocery store. Call around inyour area and see. They are very hard fruits and should ship well. They are grown in the Fresno, CA area and most of those are shipped to LA to the Hispanic community's markets.

They have also been spotted here:

Rose International Market

Address: 1060 Castro St.

Can you have a quince party with a $1500 budget? im on a very low income?

I don't know what a "quince" party is, but generally speaking, yes, you could throw a nice party for $1,500 particularly if you had it at somebody's home.

Can you have a quince party with a $1500 budget? im on a very low income?
ok well you could rent a club house like in a subdivision it should cost you about $200-300

then you could get the food from a cheap family owned place

then spend the rest on decorations/invitations ect.

:D hope this helps

rem. a quince doesn't hv to be expensive and very lavish for it to be beautiful, memorable and fun!!
Reply:I didn't spend that much on mine. Alot of my family offered to buy me things. Or you can just ask alot of people to be padrinos and they help out too. If you do, you will end up not spending that much. You can make your table pieces and recuerdos yourself, that's what i did and it saved us alot of money. Hope this helps =)
Reply:Sure. Have a potluck!

My Quince is tomorrow night... I need hair style ideas?
I don't really have any suggestions (sorry =/) except to look up some stuff on Photobucket and Google. Try typing in "Quince hairstyles" or "Sweet 16 hair."

But I do want to say Happy Birthday!

Should I have a Quince or a Sweet 16?

Quince,it is more traditional and special to you, since quinces are only for girls. It is easier to plan out and you should embrace your culture.I think a quince is better because you have more family and frineds involved with the planning and ritual.Basically it is more traditional.

Should I have a Quince or a Sweet 16?
A quince, your probably spanish if your asking this and you should follow tradition.
Reply:A quince. You dress like a princess and you have 15 girls %26amp; guys that are part of your party. It just looks a lot more elegant than a Sweet 16. You will have a mass in your honor and it you go through more of the traditions of becoming a child to a young woman for example: dancing with your father, giving the doll away, etc. I think they are more beautiful than having a sweet 16. In the end it is your choice. Good luck!
Reply:both

if u can afford it

a quince because of tradition

and a sweet 16 because almost every girl in the US

has one
Reply:BOTH!! LOL but that is too expensive so Sweet 16. Because you get to have more priviliedges than 15.

Quince fruit??

I have two Quinces (my first time trying them) but I found out on Wikepedia that they're too hard and sour to be eaten without being cooked, so what are some good recipes with quince in them? Again, I only have two and I'm not making any kind of jam or preserves.

Maybe a quince pudding? I need the recipe though, or a link to the recipe.

Thanks!

Quince fruit??
Baked Quince With Yoghurt

50 min | 15 min prep | SERVES 8

The quince turns a lovely pinkish colour when baked. The yoghurt gives a cool - tart contrast to the sweetness of the fruit. The walnuts add crunch. Delicious - especially in winter.

Ingredients

4 large quinces

water

1/3 cup honey (if you have Greek thyme honey, definitely use it!)

3-4 tablespoons fresh-squeezed and strained lemon juice

2 cups strained Greek yogurt or sour cream

1/2 cup chopped lightly toasted pine nuts or walnut

cinnamon

Directions

1 Preheat oven to 350°F.

2 Peel the quinces and halve lengthwise.

3 Using a sharp paring knife or spoon scoop out the core and seeds.

4 Place the quince cut side down on a shallow baking sheet.

5 Pour a little water into the pan to keep the quinces from burning.

6 Combine the honey and lemon juice and pour evenly over the quince.

7 Bake, uncovered, until tender, about 30-40 minutes.

8 Remove and cool.

9 Place each quince half on a small serving dish.

10 Combine the yoghurt with 3 tablespoons reserved honey and stir gently to blend.

11 Fill with a tablespoonful or two of yoghurt or sour cream.

12 Drizzle with any of the honey-syrup left from baking the quince and serve with a sprinkling of cinnamon.
Reply:1 kg veal, cut in pieces 2 quince, cleaned and cut in thick pieces 400 gr fresh tomatoes, mashed 2 spoons butter Salt

METHOD

Burn butter on a saucepan and roast the meat on all sides. Add tomato mash plus little water, enough to cover the meat. Simmer until half of the water is absorbed. In the meantime, roast the quince, which have already been cleaned and cut. Add them into the saucepan and simmer until the remaining water is absorbed. Add more water if meat is not ready and simmer for more time, if necessary

I like quince compote, too.
Reply:I am a former chef and like to use them in a apple crisp, just peel them core and slice them up mix with the apples and bake with the crumb top , they breakdown like apples have a tart less sweet flavour a hint of pineapple.

The first person has a good idea, it is nice used with any white meat, chicken, pork or veal, even in a glaze for ham.

Here are some quotes . . .

Growing up is never easy. You hold on to things that were. You wonder what's to come. But that night, I think we knew it was time to let go of what had been, and look ahead to what would be. Other days. New days. Days to come. The thing is, we didn't have to hate each other for getting older. We just had to forgive ourselves... for growing up.

-The Wonder Years

Too many people grow up. That's the real trouble with the world, too many people grow up. They forget. They don't remember what it's like to be 12 years old. They patronize, they treat children as inferiors. Well I won't do that.

Quince?????

I'm Latina and I want to have a Quinceanera next year . Im actually only half and my family didnt really know much about it cuz they're not traditional. I was wondering if you could tell me the main points and the musts that you have to have for a Quince. Please answer! thank you

Quince?????
Start planning NOW!!! They are pretty expensive but will be affordable if you try hard. Find a nice cathedral-like church for the ceremony, and a huge recreational room for the reception. Make sure you have 14 girl friends and 14 boy friends to stand with you as this is traditional... Get a Tiara, a nice puffy dress or gown,( does not have to be pink, but any fairly light colored dress will do) invite EVERYONE you know, have a good DJ... and most important, just have fun.
Reply:- bible

- ring

- shoes (delivered on a pillow)

- earrings

- necklace

- pink dress

- your priest

- 14 female and 14 male friends (usually coordinating in dress)

- a chair to sit on at the end

- a DJ for your dance

- a party hall

- cake and food and drink and music for the Quince

- hair and makeup person

check on diff. websites for more. Have fun!
Reply:Feliz Cumplean(y)os mi querida. Buena suerte en la futura.

How can I get fresh quinces to Arizona?

For years, my grandfather shipped quinces to my mother for Christmas. But now he's gone. Surely somebody out there has a quince tree - and no use for the quinces. I'll pay cash to anyone with a few to ship and share.

How can I get fresh quinces to Arizona?
Try Melissa's

Reply:I know where several trees are but can't help you 500+miles away..

BUT get out into your agriculture communities and stop at the local grocer... question them and maybe post your request on their bulletin boards. Also the fresh farmers market..and road side stands. I'm in California

OH get to the nursery and by a tree

Quince questions?

I have just bought a quince tree. It has very pretty bright orange flowers. I was told that it will not put on any fruit but i have read and talked to a few people and everyone says that all varities put on fruit. Do you know if there is a variety that just flowers? How old are the plants before they produce fruit? Do you know what variety that I have that would have orange flowers? I cant find anything about a quice with that color flower.

Thanks

Cheryl

Quince questions?
There are fruiting quinces (Chaenomeles cathayensis) and there are varieties they are breed to flower well. I have a number of varieties in my garden of the flowering varieties and they nearly all have fruit but not great quantities. The flowering varieties are usually Chaenomeles speciosa or Chaenomeles x superba. I have a miniature orange/ apricot flowering one that doesn't produce fruit. They seem to need to get up a bit before they fruit, but I think it would depend on how well they were looked after and how quickly they were growing than the age of the shrub itself.

There are many colours, white, pink, orange and red including doubles. Many are orange/red varieties perhaps yours is 'Knap Hill Scarlet', 'Glowing embers' or 'Geisha Girl'.

I have a double apricot one with a Chinese name so there appears to be new varieties coming out all the time.

I find them easy to grow and worth the prickles for the mass of flowers.
Reply:My parents had two quince trees they both had orange red flowers and they both grew fruit.
Reply:I have a quince it has red flowers and it never gets fruit.....I was told it is called a flowering quince....the one I have is about 40 years old
Reply:I yahoo'd 'quince flowers' and found this, at the bottom it names different types of qunice and lists the florwer colors, peach and vermillion are listed there...interesting article too.

Quince -Chaenomeles sp.

General Informaton: Chaenomeles are much beloved for bonsai because of their tiny, lovely flowers, and in spite of their prickly thorns. Most varieties flower before leafing out, sometimes as early as January, and may continue to flower for a long time following. The fruit is yellow and large, too hard to be edible, but making tolerable preserves.

Taxonimists have suffered much over Chaenomeles. To begin, the species now known as C. japonica and C.speciosa were hopelessly confused when introduced into England. They were originally classified as pears, but then reclassified as quinces, and then classified as pears again! Finally, when the genus Pyrus got too large, they were given their own genus. Then the Chinese quince, Chaenomeles sinensis, was reclassified as Pseudocydonia sinensis - false-quince. To make things worse, C. japonica and C. speciosa hybridize at the drop of a hat (called C. x superba), which has made it difficult to know the true derivation of some cultivars (many are simply identified as C. 'CultivarName'.)

Lighting: Full sun, although partial shade in midsummer is desirable in very hot areas.

Temperature: Protect from frost.

Watering: Generous, but avoid misting as this damages the flowers and may rot the fruit. Reduce watering in winter, but never allow the soil to become fully dry.

Feeding: Every two weeks from the end of flowering until fall. Some varieties have spot blooms throughout the season; these obviously still need to be fed when growing actively. Use liquid bonsai fertilizer or half-strength plant food. Proper feeding is essential for good flowering. Calcium in the soil helps to form fruit and flowers.

Pruning and wiring: Fruiting and flowering can sap the plant's energy dramatically, so it is wise to limit the amount by picking off developing fruit and flower buds, especially in young bonsai. Flowering quince likes to sucker from the roots. Suckers should be removed if a thich trunk is desired; however, thick trunks can be difficult to achieve, especially in some popular C. japonica cultivars such as 'Chojubai.' These plants are most often grown in clump style. Some species may need to be cut back hard to encourage branch formation. New shoots should be cut back to 1-2 leaves after 5-7 leaves have formed, which may be as often as every two weeks in a vigorous plant. Chaenomeles can be wired from spring through the end of summer, leaving the wire on for up to four months, and can be repeated yearly.

Propagation: From seeds, which need to be cold-treated before sowing in spring, but will germinate rapidly. Softwood cuttings may be taken in summer,or hardwood cuttings in winter, but cuttings will root slowly. Clumps may be propigated through division. Named hybrids are often propigated through grafting.

Repotting: Chaenomeles is one of the few species which prefers to be repotted in autumn, but can also be transplanted in early spring, or even summer if the top is properly cut back. The books recommend repotting every 2-4 years, But Brent has found that (at least in the California sun!) they may need yearly repotting. Use rich but well-drained soil. Roots can be cut back by about half if necessary.

Some species suitable for bonsai:

* Chaenomeles 'Cameo' - peach-colored flowers.

* Chaenomeles cathayensis - Hardy to zone 6, with pink or white flowers.

* Chaenomeles 'Hime' - Has bright red flowers with yellow anthers.

* Chaenomeles 'Iwai Nishiki' - has 2 inch, bright red double-flowered blooms that form in clusters.

* Chaenomeles 'Kurokoji' - the cultivar with the darkest red flowers, almost like velvet.

* Chaenomeles japonica (also called C.maulei): Maul's flowering quince, Japanese flowering quince, Japanese quince - a very popular bonsai, the original varieties have red, salmon or orange flowers. Grows to three feet tall. Hardy in zones 5-8.

* Chaenomeles japonica 'Chojubai': Chojubai quince.

* Chaenomeles 'Orange Delight' - This cultivar, with its orange flowers, pale leaves and low-growing habit, is a sure-fire fruit former.

* Chaenomeles 'O Yashima' - forms huge fruit.

* Chaenomeles speciosa (also called C. lagenaria) - These plants have shiny, toothed oval leaves which stay green well into autumn, and will grow up to six feet. Zones 5-8.

* Chaenomeles speciosa 'Nivalis': white flowering quince.

* Chaenomeles speciosa 'Rosea Plena'.

* Chaenomeles speciosa 'Toyo Nishiki' - Its outstanding feature is that it may bear red, white and pink flowers all on the same plant. Not all plants bear red flowers, and a plant may not have red flowers every spring. Murata claims that only plants of 50 years or older have red flowers. This would not explain lack of red flowers on a previously red plant. Strangely, grafts and cuttings made from old plants usually don't have red flowers for a few years.

* Chaenomeles x superba - a hybrid between C. lagenaria and C. japonica.

* Chaenomeles x superba 'Corallina' - Red/orange flowers.

* Chaenomeles x superba 'Crimson and Gold'.

* Chaenomeles x superba 'Etna' - vermillion flowers.

* Chaenomeles x superba 'Incendie'.

* Chaenomeles x superba 'Pink Lady' - rose pink flowers.

Is i perfectly okay to wear Dressy Capri's at an Quince?

I was just wondering because i'm not part of the chamberlains or anything i'm just invited %26amp;%26amp; My friend (the main person of the Quince) said she doesn't care what we wear

Is i perfectly okay to wear Dressy Capri's at an Quince?
i think it's ok as long as your just a guest...and hey, they're dressy, right? be comfy. :)
Reply:i dunt think its okay.. maybe a cute sundress or a cute skirt %26amp;%26amp; top with sandals. but no capris, shorts, or pants unless they are formal looking.
Reply:I wouldn't wear that. I would wear a cute summer dress or something. The last thing i would want is to go and all the other girls are dressed cute and I'm just in some capris.
Reply:Your friend may say she doesnt care what you wear, but Quince's is a BIG DEAL for the Spanish community. Everyone gets dressed up as if going to a prom or a wedding since this is a big event. The quinceniera sometimes wears a dress that looks like a wedding dress. I hope this helps.

What, exactly, is beef quince?

I think this answers your question:

Roast Beef and Baked Quince

in fruit sauce

[ Previous ] 20 Sep 1994 23:24:46 -0400 [ Next ]

The first quince of the season, a short season at that, and I'm about to go away! I had to seize the opportunity.

For the uninitiated, and sadly there are many in modern urban America, quince are the fruit of a tree of the apple family. They look somewhat like large green apples with an apple/pear aroma. The flesh is woody, and cannot be eaten raw. Quince are always cooked, either whole as vegetables, or as jelly, jam, or fruit leather (a great favorite of mine).

To cook it as a vegetable, a quince should be halved or quartered, peeled, and cored carefully. The area surrounding the seeds, which in apples is clearly visible but has the same texture as the rest of the fruit, is not as easy to see in a quince and it always remains woody no matter how well cooked. It is important to trim it away completely, or the quince will have gritty bits in it.

The quince is best steamed first until it is completely tender (a skewer penetrates without difficulty), which takes 30 to 45 min. Baking is too slow, and dries it too much.

I placed the steamed quince pieces in a shallow dish in the oven next to the roasting beef, and basted it with a mixture of the juice and strained pulp of blackberries, with a little lemon juice. It is possible to glaze the pieces with a little sugar and to caramelize it under the broiler, but I did not go to such extremes.

The beef was smeared lightly with a mixture of a little Roquefort and crushed garlic, and placed in a roasting plastic bag at 325 F to cook until rare to medium rare (check with a meat thermometer: internal temperature of 125 F).

To drink: pink lemonade. There will be plenty of beer tomorrow!

i don't have a clue
